Neuromodulators (Injectables)
Neuromodulators injectables are primarily known for cosmetic use in reducing facial wrinkles and lines, although they are also deployed therapeutically to treat a number of conditions that cause muscle spasms, chronic pain, and neurologic disorders, among other medical conditions. Some of the health conditions for which neuromodulators find application include:
Chronic Migraines: Neuromodulators are injected in the specific muscles of the head and neck to prevent the migraine attack in patients who frequently experience a history of severe headache.
Muscle spasms: Muscle spasm and rigidity may be diminished by neuromodulators in conditions such as cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, and spasticity from neurological disorders and injury.
Hyperhidrosis: Neuromodulators are further used to block the nervous signals that cause hyperhidrosis, a disorder of excessive sweating.
Overactive Bladder: Neuromodulators may be injected into the bladder muscle in overactive bladder conditions where the patient suffers from urinary incontinence, relaxing the muscle and alleviating the symptoms.
TMJ Disorders: Neuromodulators can modulate pain in the jaw and muscle tension attributed to these disorders.
